The Iranian Zagros Airlines began flights to Tashkent

The Iranian Zagros Airlines, the carrier launched direct flights between the capitals of Iran and Uzbekistan. The first flight from Tehran—Tashkent—Tehran Zagros Airlines performed on December 9, plane Airbus 320 with registration number EP-ZAT. Regular flights between the countries were not met for several years.

“The resumption of regular flights between the Republic of Uzbekistan and the Islamic Republic of Iran will give impetus to further development of cooperation between the two countries in trade-economic, cultural-humanitarian and tourism spheres”, — noted in the Ministry of transport of Uzbekistan.

Flights will be performed by Airbus A320, McDonnell Douglas MD-82 and MD-83 with a frequency of once a week. Further, as reported in a press-service of Ministry of transport of Uzbekistan, flight frequency can be doubled.

In 2016, the airline Iran Air, carrying out flights between Tehran and Tashkent twice a week, decided to suspend the flights. About the reasons this step was not officially announced. From this point on direct flights between the two countries was discontinued.

Aviation authorities of Uzbekistan (Agency “Usovice”) issued a permit to operate flights on a given route airlines Zagros Airlines in early November 2019 Tashkent — third Zagros Airlines in the former Soviet Union. Previously, the carrier had operated flights to the Azerbaijan capital (Baku) on a seasonal basis, as well as regular flights to Armenia (Yerevan).
