Passenger transportation is growing not only in Russia but also in neighboring countries, to which the editorial office ATO classifies independent States that once were part of the USSR. Despite a considerable period of time that has passed since the elimination of a single state, part of it remain linked economically. Edition ATO has collected and briefly analyzed the performance of passenger traffic for the year 2018 of the capital airports of countries of the near abroad and Russia. In the review we also included the airport of Alma-ATA, as it continues to play a leading role in Kazakhstan.
Total passenger traffic presented in the review of the airports amounted to more than 165 million people — almost 20% less than the total number of travelers served by the airports of Russia. Leaders in volume are Moscow Sheremetyevo, Vnukovo and Domodedovo (read more about them in the article “Airports hit record”), which accounted for almost 60% (96.7 m pass.) of the total passenger traffic.
